January guest designer... Jean!



As the mom of two adult children who are both married, I have been scrapping less than when the kids were little. But that is going to change now that I have a new a granddaughter. My style has also changed over the years and now includes a variety of mixed media elements including texture paste, inks and mica flakes. I love starting with a sketch and this two pager inspired me! The first thing I thought of when I saw it was some kind of weather and in particular, winter.

A few years ago my daughter and her fiancé visited Michigan for Christmas. Living out west, and not being used to this kind of weather, my daughter made sure her fiance enjoyed outdoor activities such as sledding and skiing. I was able to create a wintery scene by dripping a paint wash from the top and adding texture paste snowbanks to the bottom. Vellum snowflakes and mica flakes added a snowy feel to the background.
