New Sketches - In A New Place

Hey crafty friends!

If you are here expecting the sketch reveal post you've probably missed the Big News!  We have switched from running as a challenge blog to running as a challenge facebook group.  You can join us HERE! or search "Stick It Down Scrapbook and Card Making Challenges" on Facebook.  There are just two quick questions to answer as we try to make sure we keep spammers out..

It's exactly the same deal, just happening in a different place.

BIG NEWS | Changes For Stick It Down

We have some news to share with you all...

 

Ashley has run Stick It Down for the best part of a decade. She's decided it is time to move on and we wish her all the best. The team felt that we wanted to try and keep Stick It Down alive so I (Laura) have taken over the reins. There will be changes though, to make it more manageable for me.

The main change is that we are switching to a Facebook group instead of running the challenges here on the blog. The concept will still be the same. We will share a card sketch, a single page scrapbook sketch and double page scrapbook sketch on the 1st of each month. Throughout the month the design team will share inspiration based on those sketches. To join in you create based on any of the sketches (or all... there is no limit on entries) and add it to the relevant album. At the end of the month we pick a winner and they will be invited to guest design for us the following month.

We want to say a huge thank you to Ashley for all she has done for Stick It Down and we really hope she'll pop in and join us now and again. Please leave her some love in the comments below.

 Today we get to welcome our July Guest Designer----Dale Tiernan!

Hi. I’m Dale Tiernan. I live in Western Australia. I’m married with 2 adult sons. I started scrapbooking memorabilia as a child. I took up the hobby again in 2003 after I went to a Creative Memories class. I taught it with CM for some time. I’ve been on quite a few DT’s in my time but am currently on just one, Archi-Scraps. I love the art of memory-keeping. I’ve completed over 50 albums. I’m pleased to present my layout for the single-page sketch design this month.

I decided to create a title page for my Hawaii album using this layout!

I used Maggie Holmes "Chasing Dreams" for this layout. I fussy cut some of the butterflies from the 6X6 paper pad to add some texture to the collage background paper. I used a vintage photo.

July Double Page Sketch Team

Happy July! Wow can you believe we're already this far into 2023? It's gone by fast! Since it's summer I hope you've been able to enjoy the additional sunshine and that you've found some time to scrapbook on the rainy days! Here's another sketch to get your creative wheels turning!

Sharon

Thanksgiving in July. ha--I took some liberties with this layout.  But

it worked out for all my holiday photos.  I have been having fun going

through "older" papers and embellishments and using up some of my stash.

Bethany

I modified the sketch to incorporate a few more snorkeling photos from our trip to Hanauma Bay (on the island of Oahu). What a wonderful day to enjoy the beach and ocean life!

Antonia:

I tried to stick to the sketch as much as possible this month. I love sketches like this one - there is enough room for multiple photos, embellishment clusters and showcasing the beautiful patterned papers, too!

Maureen O

I also followed this sketch.  It worked perfectly for the pictures I had.  I used the new summer line Photoplay.

June's Cards

Today we are sharing projects from the card team!

Mandi  frames a focal element perfectly using a floral stamp and die cut sentiment. 

Sharon always has the cutest little animals & this card is no exception!

June single page team!

 Hello Crafty Friends,

It's single page sketch reveal week over here at Stick It Down - our June sketch was created by Brandi:

We all love a multi-photo layout here - and this is how our single page team interpreted this month's sketch:

Jane:

Such a fun sketch this month! I went WAY back into my stash for some vintage Studio Calico and Bella Blvd., along with some JilliBean Soup punch out embellishments.

Brandi:

I decided to use two larger photos for my layout, so I also stretched the background piece to complement. A little misting on the cardstock base & some gold embellishments made for a great wedding photo highlight. 

Bethany:

Here's a few snapshots of my little lady in Hawaii last year! I was inspired to make the rectangle in the background of the sketch a mixed-media focal point and then found that VW bus embellishment in my stash and fell in love with it. I had to use it! Too fun!

July - December 2023 design team call!

 We are looking for new team members!

Our next term will run from July through December 2023. Please do not apply if you cannot commit to this ENTIRE time frame.

What you will do:

• provide one project per month, with possible special events during the six month term
• comment on all submissions as you are assigned - please do not apply if you cannot commit to this!
• post our challenge to your blog and other social media outlets 
• have projects completed and posted before the deadline

What you need:

• experience with Blogger
• an active blog and/or social media accounts
• a Facebook account as this is where the DT "meets"
• a love for creating with sketches
• organizational and time management skills 
• the ability to commit to a six month term

What we will do:

• provide the sketches at least one month in advance
• provide your posting schedule and commenting assignments at the beginning of your term
• share your projects and your blog and/or social media links on the SID blog
• share your projects on our social media outlets 
• seek opportunities for collaborations with other teams and brands 

How to apply:

• send an email to Ashley at StickItDownChallenges@gmail.com with the subject line "Design Team Call" and the following information:
• Your name and location
• Have you used Blogger? 
• Are you interested in making sketches? 
• Links to your blogs/social media accounts
• include a list of current commitments (no experience necessary!)
• include three of your favorite layouts that best display your style and suit the requirements of the team you are applying for (ie submit cards if you are applying for the card team)
• introduce yourself in few brief sentences
• If you have experience or are interested in designing sketches, please include a few of your sketch designs as well.

This call is open to everyone, including our current team members, and will remain open until all positions are filled. If you have any questions, please let me know!

June Double Page Team

 Summer is officially in swing here in the USA and to celebrate, we have some fun new design team layouts for you! First let's check out our sketch from DT member Brandi!

There are so many fun variations that you could create with this sketch! Let's check out our design team's layouts! They always come up with fun creative goodness!

Sharon

Our son adopted a sweet little shepherd/masatdor mix puppy (Hazel) while he 

was home recovering from a major surgery.  She's so sweet and our

older pups "tolerated" her and her puppy antics. Ha!

Bethany

While vacationing in Hawaii, we visited an octopus farm/research facility where we were able to touch and play with the octopi! It was an incredible experience that I will never forget!

Maureen

Was dying to use Fancy Pant's Prairie Rose and had the perfect pictures!  My little friend loves visiting her family's hourse-- so cute! 

Antonia

I was so taken with this month's sketch that I made not one, but two layouts with it! This sketch is perfect for those multiple photos on the right, and showcasing the patterned paper on the left! I love it!
