August card team!

We're sharing our card team this week. We love a good diagonal design! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Mandi created a 'dad' card featuring heat embossing, mirror cardstock + a shaker center!

Sharon added a cute little mom & baby fox.

Monica is sharing a masculine 'hello' card using fussy cut airplanes & Copic colored stars to coordinate!

You have until the end of the month to play along with any - or all! - of our challenges! Just create a project based on one of our sketches and link your entry in our sidebar.  If you share on social media, please use the hashtag #StickItDown.  We’ll choose one winner from the entries here and they will be invited to guest design for us in October.

August Single Page Team Reveal!

Hello, Crafty Friends! It's single page reveal week here at Stick It Down - let's see what our team members created with this month's single page sketch:

Brandi was inspired by all the stars behind the photo on the sketch when creating this awesome layout of one of her little boys. To start with, she used different mixed media techniques for the background, then added some papers and chipboard elements from the Little Dreamer Boy collection by Echo Park.

Sherry used our sketch to create a layout commemorating her birth month - she used a full sheet of stylized patterned paper from the Alchemy collection from Stamperia for the background and layered her photo and embellishments on top of this, creating a completely different effect:

Jane scrapped an old photo, using the Oh Darling collection from Crate Paper, which reflect that vintage feel perfectly with its warm tones. For the paper layers, she alternated a torn edge with a punched edge and tucked a few ephemera pieces in between. She replaced the stars with butterflies - using her favorite Martha Stewart punch:

We hope you find inspiration in our single page layouts and hope that you join in with our sketch challenge this month - you have until the end of the month to play along with any - or all! - of our challenges! Just create a layout based on one of our sketches and link your entry in our sidebar.  If you share on social media, please use the hashtag #StickItDown.  We’ll choose one winner from the entries and they will be invited to guest design for us in July.

Happy scrapping!

August Double Team

Welcome to August! How in the world did summer fly by that quickly?!

To brighten up your Monday, here is our design team's take on our double page sketch!

Bethany

My layout is showcasing my sweet niece Natalie's arrival last February! I used a cut file instead of a doily for the left page, but then had fun making a similar collage on the right side.

Sharon

Antonia:

I adapted the sketch from 12x12 to A4 format, and used a rectangular cutfile instead of a circular shape for the background on the left side. As the two sides were quite different in theme and design, I used elements from one side to cross them over to the other, and vice versa, to create cohesion between the two pages.

For my project, I choose to use the Mintay Sunset Beach line and coordinated 'Chippies'.  I am often intimiated by Mintay's bold patterns, but found that they can be toned down if you use more of the texture, solid sheets.  For the 'chippies', I inked them in CTMH's color of the year, Melon.

I decided to create a layout with photo from my maternity photoshoot last fall.  The Maggie Holmes Marigold collection worked perfectly.

We hope you're inspired by our double teams sketches this month! Play along for your chance to win and be our next Guest Designer! :)
